(aka the NEXT Big DAY!)
Pups 6 month update

February 13, 2006
Whew... been pretty busy lately.

Saturday, I was put on Baytril for my infection. This means that I had to stop nursing the pups. They were already being fed puppy food (blended in a blender) four times a day, so they will hardly notice. The hard part is that my body is still producing milk. By Monday I was pretty full and rather uncomfortable. My spirits are fine, I love my walks, as usual. And I played with three of my babies today, one on one. My foster mom had to monitor us so that the pup did not nurse, though. I was tempted to let them nurse, it would make me feel better to get some of this milk out of me. But the vet said that while I am taking Baytril, the puppies can not nurse and that it is time for them to be 'weaned'.

Doodle broke my heart today. He wanted to come to me but wasn't allowed. He bravely climbed up on the box and reached his little paw out to me. His blue eyes said, "Momma".

My foster mom moved all the pups, AGAIN. I am beginning to think this is a bit ridiculous. I think she changes the setup about every ten days.... The puppies are bigger and now they have more room so I guess she is right. The puppies just love to explore. They were in the play room while my foster mom was setting up the new area in the dining area. They had such fun running under furniture, biting (unplugged) wires, pulling each others ears and tails! They each have such different preferences, it is a joy to see them grow.

My foster mom gives me hot compresses for my milk filled breasts and then she does TTouch on me to make me feel better. My foster mom says I am a wonderful patient cause tonight, when I saw the bowl of warm water and the washcloths I immediately rolled onto my back and opened up so my foster mom could make me feel better.

My foster mom is also doing TTouch on my puppies so that they have the best possible start in life. She is focusing on all four feet and their mouths.

ZigZag likes the new setup cause there are more places to go behind and inbetween.
Geisha and T-Bone like the idea of having the option of smaller beds so that they can choose who they spend their time with.

Pirate took advantage of the fact that he could sleep alone and not have someone biting his ear while he sleeps. He does like the companionship of a stuffed toy, though.

Geisha still likes the 'big bed' especially now that there is more room to play with the toys!

I had a nice Valentine's Day surprise! Well, in the beginning it wasn't so great. Carol, our pack leader, came and took me in her car -- that part was FUN! We went to the vet, where I was given an injection... ugh. I stayed there awhile while Carol left. I didn't know why I was there, it was not fun, tho. I was in a cage, alone. But then someone came and got me and What to my Wondering Eyes should appear, my MOM. My adoption mom came and took me with her for a few hours. Was that a most wonderful treat or what! I rode in the car with her, we took Brian for music lessons, then mom and I walked around with the leash while we waited for Brian to learn his music. I got more rides in the car and then I was brought to my new home. I did not stay there, though. Not yet, not until the puppies are older. Eventually, my foster mom came and took me back to the brood.

I think this outting was planned just for me. Thinking back, I don't care about that injection at all, not after having such a nice day afterward.

I don't get it... Now they have me wearing clothes! Uh huh! Really! Goodness!

I wear my 'shirt' when visiting with my puppies. This way they can't nurse as easily and my foster mom is able to grab the pups away before they start sucking.

I know I sound "just like a woman", but seriously, I think this shirt makes me look fat.... again!

The puppies are getting to the age where they want more and more to do. So, we sometimes let them out to play in the play room. They go potty on the floor, but there is nothing much we can do about that. My foster mom tries to time the play time so that it is after most have gone potty, but there are always 'surprises'. My foster mom took some short videos of the puppies, today. The videos may take a long time for most people to download, though.

Five of them just starting to run into the room, looking for something to doThis is the shortest video, mostly of Zig going after a ball. This is the largest video (longest to download), it shows almost all of them playing.
