(aka the NEXT Big DAY!)
Pups 6 month update

February 5, 2006
I am BEAT! First thing this morning (after we ate, of course), my foster mom yanks Heidi out of her crate, cuts off pieces of Heidi's feet with a pruner, dunks Heidi in a well of water, roughs Heidi up with some towels, puts all fresh smelling (yuk) bedding in the crate and throws Heidi back in the crate.

I shudda ran while I had the chance....

Yup, except for the crate part, same thing happened to me.

I was concerned the pups may not recognize me, they still use their sense of smell to identify me. Fortunately, the carpet still smells like the 'old me' so I rubbed and rubbed on that carpet. Whew, always good to have a back up plan.

What a great day!

In the morning I got to go for a ride in the car --- YAY! I like to feel special. We went and visited my new mom! Yep! Dweezel was playing hard to get and I could not find him. He is going to be fun! My mom pet me and pet me and pet me. I got to check out my new yard, again. All mine, I might add! After our visit, I was able to get another ride in the car. What a great way to start off a nice day.

Later on, Heidi got to have some special time, she has to go for physical therapy now. I don't think she enjoyed it all that much, so I am not wishing that I went. I got to have two walks instead. See, I get to walk with Buddy (another foster dog), that is our regular walk. But then, my foster mom takes me on the walk with Heidi. Heidi has to go in a stroller, she is really just going to get out of the house. But that means I get to go along and have some extra time in the neighborhood.

What a nice day.

I got a Moo Moo Q today. OH HOW I LOVE Moo Moo Q's. TAAYYYYSSSTEEEE! I wonder why my foster mom doesn't put them in my feed bowl instead of food. I sure would like that!

We got the Moo Moo Q's for being good dogs. My foster mom says we are always good dogs - I like when she says that - but that today we were especially good cause we all took our 'meds'. Some of us got Heartworm Preventative (?). The puppies and I were also 'wormed'. It tasted pretty good, actually. I would have taken more, if it was offered. I didn't need a 'reward' but when I saw that Moo Moo Q in my foster mom's hand... well, I just acted like a young school girl, I was so giddy!

The puppies also had all their nails cut again... thank you foster mom! Those nails are like little daggers. I don't nurse the pups all that much anymore, but I still jump in there for a few minutes, a few times a day.

The puppies are now all in the living room. My foster mom said that the pups had to come out of seclusion. They are having such a good time. It is going to be hard to see them leave. I love every one of them. Looks like Abbey is taking that 'big sister' role to heart, she even growls at her littermates. They don't mind, they bite her tail or ear or just lay on her. She loves it. ZigZag has climbed out of the pen twice now, he wants to be with his mom, I am sure. That's my boy!

My foster mom is out asking everyone for their newspapers. People are so great, they stop by and bring the papers or call my foster mom and she goes over and gets them. My foster mom is in that puppy pen cleaning up those puppy papers at least 9 times a day, sometimes more than that. I think her back is bothering her, I saw her holding it.

Oh, I was weighed today. Foster mom said that I am a "lovely 24 pounds". I am actually a bit thin in the spine area, but a few more Moo Moo Q's should fill that out. Hint Hint, foster mom, in case you are reading this!

Heidi's bedding was changed again, all that yukky fresh smell. I helped Heidi out by rolling in her crate and getting it all 'doggy'. Heidi doesn't spend much time in there anymore and it would have taken her a long time to get the crate to smell right again.

Tonight is 'Bone' night. All the dogs -not the puppies, though - get a frozen marrow bone. We each get our own. It can be a bit messy but my foster mom says that the floors are so bad that nothing matters anymore. (I'll bet some things would still matter.) Anyway, 'bone' night is always a great night, I can't wait to sink my teeth into my bone.

My foster mom told me that someone is going to visit me tomorrow. It is a surprise for me. Oh, I can't wait! I hope it doesn't mean I get another bath, though. Oh dear...

I love surprises, especially when they are for me!

Here is a current photo of the babes, asleep. Looks like we are going to have to get them some larger sleeping quarters soon!

The bad news is that we did not get our bones last night. My foster mom, "Forgot" !! Never will I relate to forgetting about bones, it is simply unheard of. But, she did it!

Heh heh, but I definitely got my surprise today! Uh HUH! It was a visit from my mom and one of my human brothers, Brian. They really love me, they came to see me, special, in the middle of their day. How many dogs have people like that in their lives? Not the majority, that is for sure! Boy, when I live there it is just going to be so great to be surrounded by so many people that want me, love me, and will care especially for me. It will be soon, too. Just a few more weeks and off I go to my new life and new adventures. I will always be grateful for being rescued, of course. But to be adopted and to belong... that is what life is about.

We got our bones later on tonight. We were all very excited and happy. I was not really sure what to do, so I buried it. Then I went back, dug it up and looked at it. Then, I buried it somewhere else. And went back to that spot, and ... yes, you guessed it, I dug it up and buried it again. When I went back, it was gone. Not sure what happened to it, but you know what, it was a relief not to have to keep going back to check on it. I went in the house and chewed on one of the bones the other dogs had. All was well, at least as far as I'm concerned!

Okay, I know there have not been enough pictures, lately. My foster mom has been really busy, tho, so I don't want to push her on it. I know she has it in the back of her mind to take more photos. From time to time she does put a photo in the puppies albums which are located at Pups. And when the puppies are weighed that information is kept in the puppystats file. My puppies photos and some info on them has been put on petfinder.org so we are now getting applications for them. I hope each one of them gets a home as good as I am getting. I sure hope so!
