(aka the NEXT Big DAY!)
Pups 6 month update

January 29, 2006
The pups are starting to play with each other, how cute they are! They are a bit wobbly at it, but they still enjoy themselves. I don't spend much time with them. If they call out, I run in, and when it is time to feed them, I am there, of course. Other than that, I pretty much spend my spare time with my foster family.

The babes are just starting to get little bumps in their mouth where their teeth will begin to grow in. I don't think I am looking forward to these guys having teeth!

My foster mom took some photos of the pups at play. Those photos are at this link.

I had an outing! A real outing, just for me! I got to ride in the car, and then we went to a home where maybe someday I will live! Yep! A home for me, ... maybe! A cat lives there, his name is Dweezel. I think he is the boss. He is very quiet but he watches everything, even when he is under the couch, I think he is watching our paws. The lady of the house is very, very nice. I think she could love me. I know I could love her! I have not, yet, met the rest of the family. YES, it is a whole family!!! Oh, think of all the petting!! I know, I am not supposed to get excited,,, but a girl can dream!

I can not believe how much my life has changed in the last 30 days. It truly is a complete turnaround. I could have ended up a single mom on the street, my puppies may not have made it. I may not have made it what with the infection and all! It is sad to think of all the unwanted dogs and cats out there that never have the good fortune to meet people like Rose, who took me in and found me safe harbor.

Later in the day, Carol visited. She is not Carol, the pack leader of Ziggy Beagle Rescue. This Carol is a neighbor of my foster mom. Carol has a taken a liking to one of my babies, my foster mom makes sure that Carol says hi to me, first, though.

Today we had visitors again! Gia and her hottie son, Andrew! We went for a great walk, four dogs and three people. Usually, my foster mom walks me with one other dog, Buddy. Today was a real adventure and fun! There are so many different smells in this neighborhood. We walked through many trails, and I could smell turtles and squirrels and raccoons and other dogs and some cats. It was a delight!

When we got back the puppies were fed canned puppy food. Yep, they are really growing up! Brings a tear to my eye, I am so proud of them. They loved the food, and so did I. I did not get enough of it, though. I wanted a lot more! Maybe tomorrow I will be able to get someone to give me just a bit more of that stuff. It was totally yummy.

Hey, I found out what that wading pool was for, it was for my pups and me! Well, mostly the pups. My foster mom moved them into the pool - no water of course! They can run around in there and stay safe!

The first game they played was Hide 'n Seek. Doodle was quick to find a good hiding place. He stayed there quite a while, waiting to be found. Here he is hiding in the box...

I know..... you can see him. I could too, but I didn't have the heart to tell him. He thought he found such a great spot, who would want to ruin it for him?

Everyone else was goofing off while Doodle hid

Eventually, Abbey found Doodle, though.

They have teeth. Every one of them has top teeth.... sharp like pins.... Motherhood!

Actually, they have top AND bottom teeth. All very pointy. My foster mom, thank GOODNESS, is feeding them dog food now, a few times a day! Whew, my seven little sharks, excuse me, I mean darlings should soon be able to do without my milk!

Today was my BIG day! I met my future family!! YES! They all came here and saw ME! Well, all except for Dweezel. I think he is too important to leave the house. But everyone else came and met me! They all sat around me and I went to each one and got pet by everyone. They did not care that I need a bath (actually I think I am fine, it is my foster mom who thinks I need a bath).

I have a family!

A whole family! People who are going to love me - no matter what! I am so elated that I feel like I could be a ballerina! I want to dance! I am a bit weighed down with milk these days, though. When I am truly svelte again I hope my foster mom takes a nice photo of me. There is one drawback to not nursing. The number of meals will decrease. hmmmm, I will have to work on a way to keep the meals coming. I like to eat.

Speaking of eating, the babes now gather around a dish and chow down! I was not allowed to go in and show them how it's done. But, I did hear it all, it sounded like they knew what they were doing. And, of course, there are pictures!!! If you place your mouse pointer over a puppy, the name of the puppy should appear, if you click on a puppy you should be sent to that puppy's folder of photos.

It appears that all the littermates produced from that handsome Australian Shepherd I met a while ago will have his romantic blue eyes. My beagle girls will have the family brown eyes, of course.

Well, Heidi is certainly getting back to normal. She still has to stay in the crate, but she can pretty much walk. Today she came on my walk with me. Heidi was in the stroller, though. I was pretty curious about the stroller - I don't recall seeing one before. Especially not one with a dog in it! I was not jealous, at all. I got to sniff and walk, I would much rather do that! Even on a chilly, rainy day, like today was.

My foster mom had a friend come in, a man, to hold the puppies. Foster mom says it is time for the puppies to meet all kinds of different people. We have no men in the house so we have to invite them in, or so she tells me. I was a bit concerned but in the end I just sat in my little spot and watched. The man did not stay real long. Just enuff to hold each babe. They are getting big! They are fed dog food four times a day, now. They bark and play and wrestle. Their coordination is not that good so, actually, they are a bit humorous to watch.

Short Quicktime Video here

My foster mom is very proud of them. They have successfully gone potty on the papers for four days now. Not one accident in the bed. Such sweeties. Carol, our leader, came by and was impressed with how the babes use the papers. It was wonderful to hear praises from our leader. It makes me feel like I am able to pay back some of the good that Carol has done for us all by having such well behaved puppies.

Foster mom took photos of them again today. She wanted to have 'face' shots of each of them. They didn't seem to mind. There are two photos of each of them. Can you match one from the top row with the matching pup in the second row?
