(aka the NEXT Big DAY!)
Pups 6 month update

January 16, 2006
We had two visitors today,,, HOORAY! One of the visitors I had met before. She is the one who said she wished her dogs were like me. She came and pet me and peeked in on the puppies. She has a favorite, it is Bungee. Bungee is my second born. She weighs a pound, now!

The other lady that came later on came just to see me. She did not bother my pups at all. She made me feel very special. People are so nice, I love them!

The kids are eating and growing, I take more breaks than I used to. I don't go far and I listen carefully. I like to get out to be comforted and pet. I am still a little girl and I like it when someone makes me feel loved.

Life is getting back to normal. After the 'Big Day', I was kind of cut off from everyone. The puppies and I have wonderful accomodations, don't get me wrong. We have two bedrooms, a hall, a cabana bathroom and part of the Florida room (glass enclosed porch). But, I did not have the freedom of socializing with the other dogs and people and stuff. This has to be this way cuz of the other dogs. I did NOT, and still do NOT want those dogs anywhere near my puppies. My foster mom has now allowed one of the gates to be open, if she is on the computer. This way she can help me watch the place and I can go in and out when I want. I go outside and sniff a bit, I run in to check the gate and listen to hear if the puppies are calling, if all is well, I run back outside and just loll about. Ah, life is wonderful!

Oh, I have to tell you I have expanded my tastes. Initially, I did not want anything but dog food and it had to be canned (kibble mixed in was okay). I turned my nose up to anything else, even dog treats. My foster mom had tried to give me a Moo-Moo-Q when I first got here. 'No way', I said and I blew it right back at her. Well, the other day she tried it again and I gave her a definite 'No'. But then, she broke it into very small pieces, and I tried it. OH MY GOSH, what I have been missing! I now take a whole one and follow my foster mom around in case she may have another for me. Wow these things are good and guess what, they are healthy for me! Talk about win-win. If you do not know what a Moo-Moo-Q is, it is dried beef lung. Lip smacking, paw lickin' good! If anyone ever offers you one, please do try it! I heard recently that I will have to be adopted out. If that is true I sure hope they have Moo-Moo-Q's at their house!

I was weighed today, I am 20 pounds. Not bad for a new mom!

I know, I know, I know.... you are probably here to see more photos of the darlin's. I'm working on it, I really am. Gia is coming by tomorrow (YAY, I love Gia!) to help trim the puppies nails - those nails are as sharp as needles and are gonna hurt someone, maybe even me! Maybe we can do a little 'photo shoot' at the same time.

One of my foster mom's favorite neighbors told us about a Great Horned Owl who is living at the end of our street, just 3 houses away. My foster mom said, "So that is where all the squirrels went."

I guess they went to live with the owl?

My foster mom said that because of the owl we will not be letting the puppies out to get some sunshine when they are older. I don't see how one effects the other but I now know just to trust the people at Ziggy Beagle Rescue! The owl is about two feet tall. That is taller than I am! The owl watches us when we have our daily walks (I love my walks). I never see any squirrels there, though. That owl asks alot of questions at night - always wants to know 'who' is going where.

We had an unexpected emergency today, so the manicures were postponed.

My foster sister, Heidi, lost motor control of her back legs. She was rushed to the vet and then to a neurologist and then she had surgery. Heidi used to do a few little tricks when she did Pet Therapy visits. I don't know if she will be able to do them anymore. She is not home. I don't know when I will see her again.

I had two visitors! They are both Pet Therapy ladies who belong to the same group that my foster mom and Heidi belong to (Therapy Dogs, Inc.). Marilyn said that I am special and may make a very nice Therapy Dog. Heck, if Heidi can do it, so can I! When I get adopted maybe me and my new mom and/or dad could do Pet Therapy visits together. I love people and I would love to help them smile. Marilyn said they go to assisted living and hospitals and schools. Oh my gosh, think of all the people I could meet!

Heidi is not back. We still do not know when that will be. She still can not move her legs or even pee. My foster mom's mom (my foster grandma?) cries alot about Heidi. I go to my foster grandma to see if I can be of any help. I let her pet me and stuff, it is the best I can do.

The babes had their nails cut yesterday.. Well, most of them did, anyway. Two babes are so squirmy that my foster mom could not do them.

I have some photos, not great.

Here is Bungee yawning this morning. The coloring is not very true, but I would recognize that mouth anywhere! She is using Doodle as a pillow, he doesn't mind.
And here are three of the other little banditos: Geisha, T-Bone and Pirate.
Abbey and Doodle, cute couple, huh? Abbey is using ZigZag as a nice pillow. He is the big brother.
Word is their eyes will be opening soon...
