(aka the NEXT Big DAY!)
Pups 6 month update

January 8, 2006
I am exhausted. I do not know what was going on but there was sweeping and vacuuming and mopping. I had to walk so much! Back and forth to the mop sink then off to the bathrooms then back to the sink... My goodness, at one point I had to sit down in the mid point area -- I could not keep up. The place smells a bit different, not as homey. The other dogs told me that in no time at all the place will be back to smelling the way it should be. Good.

I got in a little guard duty today, nothing much, just want the people here to know that I am willing to earn my keep. I stood up to bark, but .. well, I was just plumb tuckered, so I sat down and did the job. I am sure it had the same effect.

I got to meet another person today! I loved her. She loved me. She said she wished her dogs were like me. I think that was a compliment. She did not mind that I am fat, I have to admit that I am now fat, never mind just a few pounds... This is getting to be embarrassing! No one laughs at me or makes waddling jokes, though. Everyone is so nice to me. I am forgetting my old life, bring in the new life with the New Year! If I knew how to toot a horn I would!

This day started out fantastic! I had a visitor, Gia. She had been here before and took my temperature. Today she spent lots of time with me and took me for a long walk with all the other dogs. It was a real adventure, and a safe one cause I wasn't all alone. I was with people who love me. What a nice day it was. And during that walk we met.............. PEOPLE! I love people! I went right up to them and told them hi and how much I love them. They smiled at me. People are great!

Before Gia left, she took my temperature. It is 99.1 F. Everyone was saying the puppies will be coming soon. I hope I get to meet them, there seems to be such a big hullaballoo about them!

Tonight I am feeling so restless. I can not seem to get comfortable anywhere. I make a nest and then I move. I found a great nest but my foster mom said no and took it apart. I really liked it there, but foster mom said there are too many dogs there and too much activity. Oh well, I guess she knows what is better....... but I really liked it there. I started panting and feeling,, I don't know, just different. Maybe it is indigestion? (I heard that on the TV). I just feel kind of uncomfortable. My foster mom and I went to lay down together on the floor in the 'guest room'. I laid on her all night. We didn't get any sleep but we were together. Whenever I had to pee, my foster mom took me right out side and then I came back in and we laid down together, but we never slept. Hope I can catch up on my sleep tomorrow!

THE BIG DAY Puppy Stats
Guess who showed up? The PUPPIES! Yup! Boy was THAT a surprise. Gia and my foster mom stayed with me all day. Oh, I can not even begin to tell you how the pups arrived. It would shock you! It did me!

I can tell you one thing, they did NOT get here by car. Nope, no sireee! Some things are a bit too private to write about, even in a diary. Let's just say that the first one got here at 9:40 AM and the seventh one got here at 3:00 PM.

Below is a photo of my oldest daughter. Yes, I heard it before - she resembles a little hippo. Well, that's my little girl and I think she is just beautiful! (you can click on the photo to see a larger version of my little cherub)

I got breakfast(really lunch but..) in bed, cottage cheese and .....yummy canned food (big smile). My water was brought to me, which I really appreciated. Gia made sure I did not lay on any of the puppies - there were so many!!
This is five of the seven. Pictured from left to right: number 1,3,6,4,and 5.
Gia made sure I was okay the whole time. My foster mom took notes and weighed the little tykes. I am exhausted. I know I said I was exhausted the other day, but no kidding I am really exhausted today. I am going to take in a few naps now, the pups are all snuggled up close.

I will never be alone again, it seems! -- We are not all crunched in that box, we were there just a bit while some housekeeping was being done. Apparently, the room got quite messy today. C'est la vie (times seven)!

I may not be able to write every day, I definitely have my paws full!
OH OH By the way!! I lost alot of weight today!! (smile)

That Evening
Well, no sleep but everyone is healthy! My foster mom fed me five times and I ate each bowl real quick. Famished doesn't begin to describe how hungry I was. My foster mom tried to coax me to leave the pups to go outside. I wanted to but I could not leave my babies. I just couldn't. Around midnight, though, I started to cry 'cause I knew I had to leave them. I ran outside very quickly, took a quick pee and ran right back inside to those little darlings. They are all my sweetie pies. They are noisy but they are mine and I am going to make sure they have a good start in life.
I was licking the puppies so much that I was coughing a lot. I was panting and breathing heavily and my foster mom was concerned, I could tell. She stayed up with me to be sure everything was okay with me. My ears were hot and so I had my temperature taken, again. I was so tired I did not even care. My temp was 101.8 so I was 'safe'. There is always tomorrow for sleeping....

Yawn, one day is seeming to run into the other around here lately... yawn.. sorry.. seven babies all at once... quite a responsibility. Not that I am complaining! I love the little critters.

They are a bit hard to sleep with, though.

What I mean is it is a bit hard to get comfortable....

We're a 'close' family, tho', so we manage to work it out!

Today we had a visit from one of our wonderful Godmothers'. Her name is Rosemary. Guess what she brought us? A wading pool! uh huh... ( One of those gifts where you wag your tail nicely and say to yourself... what was she thinking???) It is the thought that counts, though, right? But I do wonder what goes on in the minds of some of my foster mom's friends.... a wading pool.. hmmm. I have been eating great, again, today. Now that I have lost all that weight I can really splurge! My foster mom took my temperature again today. 101.9. I do wish that part would stop but it beats sniffin' gas fumes on a chilly night at a lonely gas station, any day!

I wasn't feeling very good all last night. I had the runs until 3AM. ugh. My foster mom had to clean it up. I hope she doesn't mind, I couldn't help it. She is kind of grumbling about the fleas I brought in... the other dogs all have them now so she has to give baths and treatments and stuff. I wish I hadn't messed in the house, my belly couldn't hold it, though. I am still enjoying my meals and my privacy. Tonight I had to have some petting, though. I just had to, so after going out to 'do my business' (which is still runny, unfortunately) I went back to check on babes and then ran back out for just a minute to have my foster mom pet me under my neck. She gave me a doggy massage on my back, too. Then, I ran right back in to those babes. They are really starting to grow... a little. Maybe only a mother would notice.

I am so eager to get back in to my babies that I am starting to get the hang of the doggie door! Before, I was so fat that my belly would rub against the bottom, but now that I am svelte again I thought I would give it a try!

Today I took a break. I got out of the house and went for a walk. I can not believe how much my tail wagged - the whole time! I forgot how nice it was to just feel free for a few minutes! I love my puppies - who by the way are now getting some of my beautiful brown touches around their eyes and ears. These babes cry alot, though, and it can be a bit nerve racking at times, so it was nice to just get out of the house for a bit.

I am still a bit under the weather, what with the soft stool. I am being given psyllium for the stool problem but it is still rather soft. My apologies if I am grossing anyone out. Sometimes I may share just a bit more than you really want to know. On my walk I met a little girl! Oh I loved her. I stood on my hind feet and put my front paws on her very gently, she is only 3 years old, I had to be easy. I then kissed her face. The little girl laughed. I loved her!

Yesterday, I had some quiet visitors. Gia came back, I love Gia, she took such good care of me and I know she loves me. What a nice feeling that is. Gia brought her son, who is very cute in human years!!! I think the term is 'hot'. He is 13 and is going to be a real heartbreaker. They were very quiet and I did not mind their company. You see, I love people!

I still have a very large appetite, I told my foster mom I am eating for eight, so please be generous! She just smiled at me and gave me the same amount she gave me yesterday. Can't blame me for trying...

I will have some pictures of the furkids maybe tomorrow. Their weights are being monitored every day and kept at the Puppy Stats link.

Highlight of my day was another walk. I love walks. We had a new visitor, named Marilyn, today! I welcomed her, immediately. Everyone comments on my good manners when I go up to people and then sit down in front of them so they can pet me. Marilyn has good manners, too. She did not get close to my babies at all. I appreciate that. I need to not be stressed while nursing. I have three photos ready of three of my puppies.

My precious Doodle. He is the middle puppy, 4th out of 7. He is also the smallest, but is growing well and so far is gaining an ounce a day. My sweet boy. My little Geisha. She is going to be a people pleaser. She was born last and was worth waiting for. My Pirate baby. He has a what looks like a black patch, not on his eye but on his right ear. I think he is going to be a bit comical. Pirate was born third and is my first born son.
