Thank you for thinking of becoming a foster for a beagle in need. Fosterhomes are homes where beagles are taken care of until they are adopted. Sometimes this happens very quickly-2-3 weeks or sometimes it can take a while longer-up to six months.
We are located in Brevard County. Our foster homes must also be in Brevard County as our veterinarian is in Palm Bay. Fostering a beagle helps savethat dog's life. Having foster homes available allows us to continue to help beagles who just need the time to find the right home. The foster mom or dad takes care of the beagle as if it was their own dog but all vet bills for a fostered beagle are paid for by rescue.
A fenced yard is a requirement when fostering a beagle as they are scent hounds with a very acute sense of smell. They can never be let off leash unless in a fenced area as they will "follow their nose to the next zipcode" before you realize that they are gone. They are intelligent but independent (they will do what you ask them to do, when they want to do it).
Beagles are energetic, active, alert and even tempered. They are very social dogs and like the company of people and other dogs.
